how to fix Lionel 4-4-2
Posted by Anonymous on Sunday, September 9, 2001 5:29 PM
My son has a Pennsy Flyer Lionel trains set. The engine will run for a few seconds, stop and then start again. The only thing I could find wrong was that headlight & smoke unit were inoperable because of wire came off in front of loco. I reassembled and it still does same thing. Any advice?

Hi Lance,

Your problem could be caused by a lot of things. Could be an internal short or lack of tension on the pickup rollers. Without testing the Loco it is hard to single out the problem.

I would recommend taking it to a Lionel Service Station. You can find one in your area using the "Dealer Finder" on the Lionel website (lionel.com).

Sorry I can't be of more help.
