There's no need for any "us versus them" or "OGR Refugees versus CTT Regulars" - "refugee" really isn't quite proper either - I for one am expanding my forum horizons beyond OGR. It just so happens that the recent decision to take two steps back by OGR mgmt has been the catalyst to get me looking elsewhere for reasonable discussion of O guage related subjects. I'd like to think that anyone who starts visiting and posting here (or anywhere else for that matter) will quickly become a "regular", reguardless of their past forum preferences.

Although I gotta admit - I HATE SMILIE FACES!!!!! The only one that expresses my feelings (especially about smilie faces) isn't there.......

Many of us so called regulars here have been over at the OGR Forum, me included. Rules of courtesy and respect work both ways. Besides, we're here to talk trains. Not to attack others because the trains they like are different from someone else. It's not a matter of us versus them... forum versus forum.

Hey, these are just train cars by K-Line. If you like 'em, you'll buy 'em. If you don't, you won't. They're not on my list, but if I saw one for a deal, I might get it just to tear it apart, rebuild and repaint it into something I'd like better. That for me, is part of the fun of the hobby. If I waited for someone to make the trains I want in the size I need, I'd still be waiting. So I'm lucky I can do it myself, do it well and have fun too.

I hope you guys from the OGR that posted here will give it a chance. I was told there was a thread about "where am I" on the OGR forum. Yeah, as an 027 guy I kinda felt out of place there many times and so I said as much. But folks were really nice in their posts, and that felt good. Sometimes a little kindness goes a long way... it did with me. I'm not writing off anything at this point.

So it's not really fair to dump on one Forum or another, at least because of individual's opinions. With these forums, folks will figure out where they feel comfortable and that's where they'll be. This thread is kind of like one of those "roll call" threads... here or not here, yes or no... you like the cars or you don't.

There is certainly no shortage of other types of new trains that are available for purchase.

They are definitely different. I'm not particularly interested, but I don't dislike them
either. At least K-Line isn't following in lock-step with the other manufacturers by
making the "same old, same old..." K-Line is trying to appeal to everyone in the
hobby by offering variety. Actually, it's just a variation on the "cops and robbers"
car offered by another maker.

Even if you don't like that particular item, don't hate the whole line, K-Line has some
neat other stuff!

It is amazing that this topic would generate so much interest and polarization. K-Line
has used this is a marketing ploy by creating controversity. Personally these items are not for me, but one man's trash is another's treasure.

Back to the original post. Yes, K-Line and other companies do make profits off the war, be it Desert Storm or Iraqi Freedom.

K-Line makes some excellent products at low prices but they occasionally goof. For example, some folks are complaining about their new SP Daylight cars, which are painted in Milwaukee Road colors.

Now I see that it wasn't you that raised it, and that helps. I can't fault a new guy for rummaging through the pile, but it may be time to lock up the "dirty laundry".
