364 Lumber Loader Question
Posted by Anonymous on Tuesday, December 12, 2006 2:12 PM

I have an old #364 lumber loader that has a lot of belt slippage. I took the back off and checked around and I think there should be some sort of spring to increase the tension on the belt. Does anyone know of a parts diagram for this piece? I found a parts list on Olsen Toys, but there was no diagram of how and where the spring should be attached.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

kazul,

The spring that keeps tension on the belt is on the motor pivot.  With the back off, try pushing the motor straight up.  You should be able to feel the spring trying to push it back down.  It is normal for an original belt to slip, because over time, storage conditions combined with the spring pulling on the belt will stretch the belt.  I think that a new belt and maybe new brushes would be all you would need to get your 364 going again.  If you do need to increase tension on the new belt, just bend the ends of the motor pivot spring slightly.  Hope this helps.

kazul,

I am glad that I was able to help.  If you have any other questions about the 364, please don't hesitate to ask.  I have a 364 on the Christmas layout, and I love it.  Have a Merry Christmas!
