Reversing Unit Hook-up Question

I'm a novice (and a lady) trying to set-up an outside display with a Playmobil reversing unit on G track.  There are three parts and I'm stumped because directions are in German.  I've tried every sort of configuration and still the train won't reverse.  There is a short track (4") with a capasiter,  another track (10") with block and capasiter, and a block with a wired piece that snaps onto the track. 

Can anyone help me with the configuration?

Does it matter where I have the transformer connected?

 I dont know how that reversing unit works. Someone here may be able to help. Might have a better result gong to the Garden Railroad forum. They deal in G. Go to the top of this page and click on "Trains. com forums". Then scroll down to the Garden Railroad forum.
