TCA dues...
Posted by waltrapp on Saturday, January 7, 2006 10:31 AM
If I missed another thread on this, my apologies, but if there isn't one then I'm surprised that no one has brought up the vote being taken by TCA to bump the dues $7 per year.

You can read the details in the TCA publication (got mine Friday).

I voted 'yes'.

Not much to discuss. Reasonable. You get what you pay for.

I voted "yes" and would have done so if the increase had been $10. My membership is well worth that much to me, when I think about what it costs for one meal for two at a decent restaurant these days - or one gas fill-up, for that matter.

I, too, am perfectly willing to continue supporting the TCA with a modest annual dues increase (less than the cost of a decent lunch out in most places).

There are whiners and gripers out there (on other venues) complaining about the planned increase, and I can't for the life of me understand how petty some folks can be about a very small amount of money that helps support an important organization in this hobby. I know we have developed a "me first and me only" mindset in this society, but I had no idea it had gotten this bad.

I've said it before, and I'll say it again: When this segment of the hobby starts to slide dowhill, the hobbyists will have nobody but themselves to blame.

Support the TCA not out of self-interest (or because you want to be able to attend the York Meet), but because you recognize its broader importance and role in the hobby community.
