I'm buying MTH stuff from the 1999 catalog on e-bay. Great deals on new items or barely used. It's now priced to where I can afford it. I'll be buying stuff from the 2006 catalog in 2011.

MTH Premier: I am thinking about the NYC Dreyfuss Steam Engine + Passengers cars. There are a few other things like rolling stock etc that I am looking at. (Santa Fe Bay Window Caboose)

The PWC stuff is what gets me all the time. I love the stuff with all the new goodies.

BTW Lionel still waiting on a PWC 671. Yeah I know it's been done in the Century Club but us laymen would like one too!. Think of it. You could probably get 4 or 5 sets alone out of this one engine. I think you could even package a transformer (not the CW80 even though I have had no issues) some track, and maybe some add on packs and I think this could be a good seller if the price point is right. The PWC Army #44 set was a big hit, I don't see why the PWC Turbine set (s) couldn't be as well.

But the 671 was so common and you can still get 'em for a couple hundred bucks in nice shape. Of course, new ones would sport all the bells and whistles (isn't it nice how that old saying so precisely fits trains??). I think Lionel will continue to stress the diesel sets, especially the F3s they haven't done yet. I'd really like to see them remake one of the super Great Northern EP5 sets from the late fifties.

Being an Illinois native and having limited layout space, I was thrilled to see the Railking Line offering Illinois Central E8 units and matching passenger cars. Have also previously purchased the MTH IC GP9's. Now I'm waiting on modern IC loco's, like a GP40 with the 'Darth Vader' logo. Cheers.

PWC 2-4-2 Scout set [:D]. Let's face it, more people got Scout sets for Christmas as a kid than any other, right?

Lionel has just posted a note on its website that it will put the new catalog online on Tuesday, Jan. 17th. It even has a countdown clock going and shows the cover of the new catalog. One thing we know, there will be a Milwaukee Rd. Hiawatha coming out!
