Has CTT ever done an article on this forum?

Well the subject asks it all, but I don't recall an article on this forum being in the magazine recently.

It seems like it's a resource that is under advertised.

PL,

They have mentioned the forum from time to time, but no specific articles.

It may be the more it it used the more it costs. As the OGR forum grew - they needed some advertisers to help offset the costs or they were going to have to charge members for posting.

So it will be a good news/bad news story for CTT. Just like the issue of going to 12 issues per year - is there enough advertising to support it? Does it help them sell magazines? What ever they do has to be profitable for them. Also has to be profitable for the advertisers.

Regards,
Roy

I'm unsure whether it would be worth reading. I mean this in a couple of contexts: would the magazine readers who are not forum members be interested enough to sign up. It may be more interesting as supplemental material to add to the CTT website. But what would be interesting to write about the forum: individuals? layouts? discussion threads?

I was thinking more about a short article with a focus on..."hey did you know this was available?"

Although many people who are "regulars" might get tired of all the "newbies" I think this forum has kept many of us in the hobby(including me).

I ran into this forum by accident. It would be nice to have someone write it up right. The closest thing I've seen so far is Neil's editorial in the recent edition. And that was about a discussion on the Dunham studios layout in another magazine! (Ok, I know it was really more of a broad topic than that)

The circulation of the magazine is much larger than the number of users on this forum. So if during these slow summer months the magazine needs material, how about a short article about the forum?

I agree!

They should highlight this forum more.

They could also use some of the posts here for articles,

While the thought is a good one, I agree with CNW1995 What would one write about? Pretty much everything that needs to be said is covered in the large ad at the top of page 114 in the May issue directing the reader to classictoytrains.com.

Also, I seriously doubt the magazine is hard up for material during these slow summer months. You have to realize these magazines are planned out at least three months in advance of publication.

While mining material from the forum for publication sounds like a good idea, it's not that simple. The biggest problem is the photography. Although a photo may look good on your screen, chances are the original file does not have the resolution necessary for good magazine reproduction.

I doubt more traffic on this forum is the goal. If every CTT subscriber posted here the forum would lose its appeal. Topics would fly off the top of the page, and CTT would have to employ more unpires.

It's probably here as a nice add-on and potentially to build a base for future electronic copies, but I doubt anyone would want a forum with a vast universe of members to keep tabs on. Plus there is probably significantly more cost with a major increase in usage.
