Get active on the internet. There is a virtual encyclopedia of information. The American West is kind of subjective: I always thought of it as Texas, Arizona, and New Mexico, and one of my best trains with a western style motiif ("The Texas" by MTH) ran on tracks between Atlanta and Chattanooga in the mid 1800s. Never really much considered Atlanta as "The West." The grandaddy of them all, of course, is the Union Pacific, where they drove the "golden spike" on the transcontinental railroad around 1886 in Utah. All from memory and subject to CRS syndrome. (Can't Remember Stuff).

Here is a World War II pic my father took in Europe. Since it appears to be summer, it was probably taken after he came ashore in France.

Doug you updated yourself. You look really good for having been there back in Utah in the 1860s-1880s. What is your secret to staying so young, did you find the fountain of youth in FL ? If so where is it? I know you hid it on your layout !!!! Take care, couldn't resist Doug. [:)][:D][8D]
