How often do you mix it up???

Just a question. How often do you rotate rolling and motive stock on your layouts??
 I don’t have a lot of display so I tend to forget all of the neat stuff I have in the boxes.

 How do you guys deal with rotation of rail product?

I shift it around when I get bored with what's on the layout.  Right now I'm running a Northeast theme with an Erie passenger train and an Erie milk train, the "Mighty Moo Juice" train I calls it.

In a few weeks it'll be a "ham-bacon-lard" billboard car consist with another passenger train, different 'roads. It all depends.

I tend to "spotlight" recent acquisitions.  Two years ago it was a GG1, last year it was Lionel and AF searchlight cars, this Christmas it's a 2035.  But buying that 2035 a few months ago led me to picking up some great rolling stock to go with it: 2555 tank, 6411 flat with logs, 6462 dark red NYC gon, X2454 Baby Ruth, X3464 ATSF operating boxcar, 6472 refrigerator and 6457 SP type caboose.  Add in the KW I picked up around Memorial day and it's been a great year for postwar!  For me anyways!

This all goes back to a childhood issue. I have this Lionel ABBA set my dad got me. 200 series ALCO 218 with two 218C and a 218T . Neat set up, right? Anyway I bought a celebration series seven car passenger set to pull with it. The problem is with seven cars and three dummy engines, well the poor 218 could not get it done. Just too much to ask her to do. So all the passenger cars went back in the box with less than 100 laps around the track. Then I built a 200 series B-unit last year for kicks with twin motors hooked to a 218 A unit and it pulls stumps. Just today I thought I bet it will pull the seven cars and two dummies with no problem. I will need to try it out. The issue is out of sight , out , of , mind. Right????

Whenever the grandson comes over.  He is never content to let any train loop around forever.

Same here Fife, but he only has me change what is already on the table,,,,,,,,,,after about two laps each.
