Favorite Railroad (prototype) was the PRR, with the terrific GG-1's that were everywhere when I was growing up.

and favorite prototypical locomotive (because I saw little steam) was again, the gorgeous GG-1. Favorites I have not seen are the GS-4 and Dreyfuss Hudson.

Favorite toy locomotive the Lionel 675 and my MTH GS-4. Beautiful locomotives that stop traffic!

[:D]Well, I'm split between two scenarios:

A pair of EMD FP45s in the Red, Silver, Yellow Warbonnet scheme hauling the 1968 Super Chief / El Capitan.
(That cowl body styling was definetly a winner in the "sharp looking" department!) [8D]

A New Haven Railroad EP-5 electric hauling The Yankee Clipper at 80 m.p.h. [:D]

"I like my Pullman Standards & Budds in Stainless Steel flavors, thank you!"

My favorite toy train loco is the Lionel #675. My favorite real rr is the BN (BNSF, GN, NP, SP&S but not really the Frisco (I'm just a NW rr kind of guy)). As far as paint jobs go, I love SP's Daylight and the Black Widow schemes.

--I'll go with GG-1 for both prototype and Lionel
--I'll go with all my Weaver and Williams engines for simple smooth reliable power (poo on my fancy MTH and Lionels...constant headaches and $$$$$)
--Penn Central/Early Conrail for the great dog-pack lash-ups, LV for many reasons including Cornell Red, helpers, Alcos, "pups" and "bombers"
