Sunday Photo Fun: March 16 2014

Today TheQ took the family out so I could pick out my Birthday Present - while that is not train related, our little excursion North afterward ended up being.

We were hungry for some ice cream and were already headed home on US15N from Frederick, MD. As we got close to Emmitsburg, MD I did a quick search and found a Friendly's in Gettysburg, PA. So we headed there.

When we got there Christina noticed The Lincoln Train Museum was next door, so after our fill of ice cream Christina and I decided to check it out... Matthew was fussy so TheQ decided to let Father & Daughter enjoy our trains... after paying the $7.00 for Adult fee (children over 6 are $4.00, under 6 are free) we headed in to check out the exhibits.

This is what we found:
Overview of the large layout:

Closeups of the layout:

But the highlight for me was this:

Yes that is a Lionel LRRC Lincoln Funeral Train. The detail on this was outstanding and it made me wish I had purchased one when they were for sale. Christina and I did not have time to make it to all the exhibits, and for $7.00 is was worth the price of admission. As you can see from the overview and closeup pictures they have a lot of trains in the cabinets.

That's cool!  I'll have to check it out since I now live in Gettysburg!

Lion88, did you take the "Lincoln Train Ride?"

Lady Firestorm and I were at the Gettysburg Lincoln Train Museum several years ago, and yes, it's a lot of fun.

We did not. Christina is only 2 1/2 years old. She enjoyed running around during the train display pushing the red buttons to see things move (she is an awesome button pusher of all kinds of buttons). It was worth the admission to watch her.

88 - Upon seeing Lionel's Lincoln Funeral set, I didn't want for one as it appears too diminutive for 3-rail.  It looks more S-scale then anything.  Still, very handsome offering.

To those who want another nice train ride pertaining to Lincoln, I'd suggest checking out the YORK 17 (steam into history) based out of New Freedom, PA.  Very easy to chase and photograph as well.

Understandable, I had a lot of fun running around and pushing the buttons too!
