Lighted LTC Lockons

Another simple question.  What advantage is the lighted LTC lockon other than to let u know u have power to a certain section of track.

I have then on my Realtrax and it is a good source of just what you said.  Especially on track section with off/on toggles.  Also helps locate any problems.  Same with lighted bumpers.

Some folks have reported here that they can't get modern electronic e-units to cycle when using modern "transformers", like the CW-80.  The CW-80 in particular has a high-impedance resistor-capacitor network bypassing its triac pass elements, which leaks enough current that, when the locomotive is in neutral and drawing almost no current, the track voltage is high enough to keep the e-unit from cycling.  Just about any load, like a single lamp in parallel with the locomotive, is enough to shunt the leakage current and drop the track voltage to zero.
