Constant Voltage to FasTrack Operating Track Section?
Posted by wyomingscout on Saturday, January 25, 2014 6:47 PM

I have two of these in a controlled block.  I have isolated the outside rails, but wonder how to get a constant 14 volts to them without interfering with the control block.  Can I  just unhook the red wire running from the controller to the center rail & wire it to the constant 14 volt line under my layout?

Yeah, thanks, Rob.  That part about the Accessory Power Wire being required was bothering me.  Anyway, I'll just run the red wire in the connector to a 14 (or 18)v line.  As I recall from setting up my old 027, that's what I did with that controller & operating  track.   My new LionChief (which I love!) operates on 18v, so it seems that all FasTrack should operate at that voltage, too, so I'm considering 18v for operating tracks as well as the turnouts.

Senior moments hit me, especially about electricity.  Have to remember I'm not applying 14v to the center rail in the operating track, only to the controller.  Variable power is still going through the center rail, duh.
