1959 Horn Relay for a 2242 F3
Posted by KRM on Tuesday, December 11, 2012 9:46 AM

I have been working on a 2242 F3 for a friend and I can't get the horn relay to work correctly. When I activate it the relay will just shutter and bounce or do nothing. The horn will blow if I jump it or lift the contact up. The part number is 2333-121 but I can't find a listing for one on the train tender's or Brasseur's web pages. Is there a replacement part for it?

Thanks,

I have read that Lionel would change the part number from 2333-121 to 2328-121, 2329-121 or even 2321-121 after final assembly as these relays were pre-wired for the assembly line and some had different ground wire lengths. I Googled "Lionel 233-121" and spotted several Ebay listings as well as "Parts Store" listings for the part. Price about $35. You could also call Jeff at The Train Tender and ask about the part. I have found him to be a great source.

Thanks for the lead, I got this one to work after I unhooked it from my 1063 test bed transformer to a ZW and did a bunch of cleaning and adjusting.
