If i bought the Bachmann overland HO train set, would it work with the CW-80 80-watt transformer?

n scale, Ho scale , and G gauge are all DC powered engines your O is AC so it probably would burn it up it might run a little but it would be very jerky. also running O off a DC inmost cases you would burn up you O gauge there are exceptions and they need a DC Transformer except theres even a few less exceptions that can run off of both in O gauge but HO needs a DC transformer.

No.  Although there are some HO trains that run on AC (Maerklin, e.g.), this one probably wants DC.  I believe that the set does come with a suitable power supply.
