? about Lionel 020X
Posted by papa3376 on Friday, March 11, 2011 5:12 PM

Hi all,  Does anyone know the difference between a Prewar and Postwar 020X 45 degree crossing.  I picked one up at a show recently for $1 and just today while looking through my Greenberg's guide found out there are Pre and Postwar versions.  Mine is green.  Trainz lists one as Postwar but painted green by previous owner.  Train Shoppe shows that all Postwar are painted black.  Mine appears to be all original.  Thanks in advance for your help.  George

From the Standard Catalog of Lionel Trains, it states that the 020X was manufactured from 1915 continuously all the way up to 1959, with  the exception of years of WW II.  There is apparently no rarity for color mentioned, but I would presume that the green color would be in the Prewar era, where most items Postwar seem to be black.  Hope this helps.

Hi,  Thanks for the reply.  I was hoping this was the case.  Regards, George
