hello: i'm looking at my 6-19652 Jersey Central bunk car. the trucks are plastic and the plastic uncoupling tabs don't keep the knuckles closed. of course i could glue them shut, but then i could not uncouple them. any ideas without changing trucks?

This era of truck typicaly develops this problem. I have two fixes. The easiest is to wrap a small rubber band (black will almost not be seen) around the coupler arm.
The correct fix is to remove the lower plastic uncoupling arm that has the metal tab on it and bend it up slightly such that it will maintain more pressure against the main uncoupling are. This lower uncoupling arm has a tab that is pressed into the upper coupling arm. A little uppward pressure at this location and the lower portion should pop out. After putting a little more bend into the arm, it can be pressed back into place.
A penny saved is a penny earned. But every once in a while it is good to treat yourself to a gum ball.
