1950's Plastic talking train station
Posted by Joe Parker on Thursday, December 9, 2010 1:14 PM

I am trying to get info about a train station that I had on my layout in the late 1940's-early 1950's. The station has an open platform surronding a terminal building; a red roof with a raised chimney, gray platform. There is a button in the chimney that when pressed causes the station to call trains and make steam engine sounds. I have searched online and even tried using the patent #D=166071.

I am trying to restore it for my grandchildren.

Thanks,

Joe Parker

Sounds like a Noma Talking Station; they had a little record player inside them for the sounds. I believe there was even an assortment of different announcements available, for different railroads and different destinations.  Wish I could tell you more about it...

Use any of the internet search engines and type in " Noma Talking Station" and all kinds of information comes up.  I think there was a thread on this forum back a while ago about this very item.  Type in Noma Talking Station in the Search our Community box and see what comes up.  Hope this helps.

The green roof version seems to be more difficult to locate than the red roof version.
