I am a sinner

New to the hobby and have thus far broken all the rules as to how to go about model railroading, probably not the first one to do this.

A little over a year ago I got the toy train bug from a friend of mine, O guage to be exact. I was 53 years old back then, its nevr too late to have fun! I put a 4X8 table together, not big enough, finally ended up with a 12X15 layout, big enough but not very satisfying. I got hooked on Lionel FM's from the late 70's and early 80's, so I bought a bunch of them in fact all of the FM's Lionel produced during that era. I also bought a few trains that turned out to be dogs.... should have done my homework,  I also settled on Lionel tubular track which I now regret, not because its poor track but mainly due to the amount of area that the switches take up on the layout plus its not very realistic looking, matter of taste.  At the very least tho I can say that I have had a lot of fun messing with the whole thing. I recently purchased several of Kalmbachs books on toy trains and layouts, books I should have purchased to begin with. Have learned much about different types of track and things to consider before ever getting started. I am now starting all over with a vision as to what it is I want my final result to be. Not being terribly creative I got ahold of Neil Besougloff's book Creative Toy Train Track Plans and settled on plan number 15 using Ross track and switches. I plan on making some minor alterations to this layout to fit my needs but for the most part this will be my new layout. if you have this book can you tell me what the table dimensions are? My original table was a solid 12X15 but I am wanting to makeit so that I am not having to crawl up on it in order to build my railroad. As I said tho I am having a great time and enjoying all aspects of the hobby!

Before making another move Y not start w/ a copy of RRTrack  software & design/modify your own layout (w/popout hatches & all)? Whisper
