I have an older post war lionel train set. My layout is such that I have one outer oval with 2 sets of swtich tracks to switch the trains into a inner oval. My question is "What is the best way to wire this layout so that when one train is riding on the outer layout does crash into the one that is riding on the inner layout?
I don't think you can run 2 trains on such a layout unless you either divide your track sections into blocks controlled by toggle switches (in which case you can only run one train at a time) or use a set of relays. Someone else will have to tell you about the relays since I've never wired a layout that way.
