Lionel Block Power Controller Question
Posted by intermission on Tuesday, August 31, 2010 9:11 PM

Hi, I came across a couple lionel BPCs this weekend at a yard sale really cheap, so I bought them.  Reading the owners manual it doesn't mention that you can use the 180 watt powerhouse power supply.  I was wondering if it would be possible to use the 180 bricks with a lionel power adaptor cable?  The thought is the cable could connect the 180 brick to the BPC. And I would control the BPC via TMCC.

Thanks

Chris.

Chris.

In my opinion, unless you are also running Conventional Locos - the additional expense is not necessary.  TMCC runs on constant voltage.  The block power controller  - WITH a TPC (Track power controller) allows you to regulate track voltage for Conventional operation.  The BPC does not provide a connection point for the bricks - You need the TPC (MSRP - $170.00 - $230.00), plus the cable for the bricks - another $16.00.

Much cheaper to use switches, if you want to isolate the blocks.  If you are still interested in using the BPC's, then go to Lionel's web site and download the manuals.
