TrainMaster Command Set Update

In response to consumer feedback about Lionel’s decision not to produce additional TrainMaster Command Sets, we want to make the following clarification:
LIONEL WILL CONTINUE TO SUPPORT THE TMCC PLATFORM AND WILL CONTINUE TO LICENSE THAT PLATFORM TO ITS CURRENT LICENSEES. Only the actual TMCC CAB-1 Remote Controller and Command Base hardware is affected.

So in short... If you have the TMCC-CAB-1 instead of LEGACY if it goes kaput you are done unless you upgrade to LEGACY which is more $$$$. I was reading down further in the article...which makes me have more questions...but on the other hand you dont have to upgrade u can always go back to transformers only...(I better not say that to loud they may figure a way to do away with that to)

This is also part of the article..

In short, to answer the question about our plans for the TrainMaster Command set, like all iterations of ongoing technology, its time has passed. We will continue to sell the few sets that are left in inventory – and there are probably a number still for sale at retailers around the country. But we have no plans to produce any more. (The fact is many of the components are so out-of-date that producing the set is next to impossible.)

Will other parts of the TMCC be phased out also other then just the CAB-1 and the Command Base?  Are they somehow going extend that to TMCC engines also, or just Rename them to LEGACY and charge more? If you ask me its all about money.... of course any business is all about money...

--Black Diamond-- One thing about a train, it doesnt matter where it's going, You just have to decide to get on... Woo Wooo.....

this was brought up in April that they no longer are going to sell TMCC system you still can find them on line at ebay and some of the other dealers even have some old stock. The only thing as you mentioned your choice is to upgrade to legacey.

basically there selling the components as legacey is backward compatible so they will still for the time being sell those items to companies like weaver, atlas ect. now if they will sell legacey to them not sure. But my guess is soon.

Life's hard, even harder if your stupid  John Wayne
