Williams smoke units
Posted by KEVINK22 on Monday, March 22, 2010 12:29 PM

Hey All,

I have read in the past some mixed reviews on any of the Williams by Bachmann steam engines in terms of the quality of the smoke generators in each of the engines. I am curious though, would you be able to replace the smoke generator with a different one of another make, and how much do you think something like that would cost someone? Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Are they still using the Slueth smoke units. I don't see why it would be that hard to change it over.

You need to make sure that the new smoke unit will fit into the area the old smoke unit came out of. I have installed horn units and find it very difficult to install a new horn unit in some of the Williams diesels because there is very little space. With all the new electronics there may not be room for anything but the exact replacement smoke unit.
