I have a Williams U33C diesel with the horn that was used before the Tru-Blast era. It is not that great of a horn and I did not use it that often. Anyways put the loco on the tracks for the first time in about a year and the baaaa horn blows almost continuously. I have a set of Williams Alcos with the Tru-Blast horn and no problems on the same loop of track so I am guessing that something has gone south on the U33C horn electronics. Anyone else run across this problem, since I didn't use the horn that much anyways, thinking of cutting the wire to the speaker, good idea or bad idea.

I would upgrade the electronics to the tru-blast type of sounds. I guess you could cut the wire to the speaker it shouldn't effect anything.

Williams makes and upgrade package to add horn and bell. See Justtains, Wholesale Trains or Ma & Pa Junction for price and availability. I added it to several units that did not have sound.
The best advice on the horn for now would be to cut the wire to the speaker. Replacement horns are avaliable but they may not fit inside the shell of the U33C. I had a difficult time upgrading an unpowered GP-9 to a True Blast 2 horn, the circuit board was either wider or longer than the original circuit board for the horn. Upgrading the horn may not be practical due to space inside the shell of the U33C.
The Williams SD-45's will allow you more room for a replacement horn inside the shell.
Current price from Bachmann for a TB-2 replacement horn is about $42.00.
