WILLIAMS UPDATE
Posted by MA and PA JCT on Sunday, May 9, 2004 11:00 PM
[:0]Yikes! Take it easy Joe, they are not canceled!![swg]
Guerss I'll have to get up on my [soapbox] and try it this way:

Yes, they are "sets"...to a degree. Williams use old LIONEL graphics for their GOLDEN MEMORY catalog, even used the LIONEL "set" box numbers.
So, if you ordered a SANTA FE F3, ABA, and all 6 cars, you will actually receive
4 seperate boxes: A-A BOX, "B" box, 4 car set box, 2 car set box.. If you examine the GOLDEN MEMORY catalog closely, you will notice that the AA's can be bought seperately; same with Aluminum cars, ad/ons and the "B" unit. It certainly would not be feasible to box them all up into sets, when you may have to break them up.

So, what China DID was put all the 4 car and 2 car ad/on PASS sets, on the container----NO F3's. WHAT good is that? WILLIAMS complained, CHINA relented and unloaded the container. When it is finally SHIPPED, therre should be AA, B, 4 car,2 car ad/on ON THE container ship. The FIRST round of F's are the SFE (both black & RED warbonnet), NYC, TEXAS SPECIAL, CP. PLUS whatever was sheduled on the first shipment.

The REST of the F3's I mentioned will arrive late winter.
I hope that clarifies the issue.

Marty MAPA, how come the Texas Special pass cars have New Jersey names on them? Since when did the TS run in jERSEY?????[?][%-)][:O]

They would also be better with Lionel Lines on them than Luxury Lines. If they are Lionel reproductions, why not go all the way?

Let us know when the Chinese boats arrive.

I can see Lionel's attorneys lining up to blast Williams off the face of the planet now.

Never again will another train bear the name "Lionel Lines" or the Lionel name unless it is made by Lionel.

Try reading OGR run 199, pages 97-98.

Joe,
I never would have responded if I'd taken the time to look at who wrote that post.

Putting that aside, the last time I checked, I didn't have to have your permission to post my opinion on this or any other forum I want to.

And, that wasn't my opinion, that was fact.

Joe,
The reason you see "NJ" names on the cars is because Williams "copied" the LIONEL Illustration from the 50's. Those silver cars had the Jersey names on them. Whether or not "summit" etc are on them we will have to wait and see. Or get a hold of a 50's Lionel catalog showing those cars.

As for the 'LUXURY LINES" instead of LIONEL LINES is simple: WILLIAMS would be in court with LIONEL so fast, it would make your head spin.
As stated, ETA first shipment is sometime in JUNE.

Lionel is already busy in court with MTH. They wouldn't mess with "small potatoes" Williams.

Marty MAPA, do you give free shipping?

Joe, Marty is great to deal with. Got two Williams diesels from him. Got here in super fast time. UPS is usually slow. If I'm getting more Williams, I'm calling Marty first.

Gee, Joe, you seem to have the definitive answer for everybody's post. Are you a lawyer?[?][:o)]

I have a set of williams luxliners. They are New York Central cars and they have jersey names. I like them just the same. no one who looks at them really pays attention. I don't think anyone really cares. I run them with my pw lionel f3s. If I was concerned with every little detail like that I'd probably go crazy.

The guys are right. it's a legal thing. Williams put "Built by Lionel" on a reproduction 408E or 381 (I can't remember) back in the 70's and got a court order to take it off.

Marty,
Just ignore Joe.

If you remember the infamous Hans Zimmer, a.k.a. Sandy Jorgeson, Bill Conner, Missy, Frankie, etc. from OGR, this is the same guy. He's best left alone.
