PS2 to TMCC
Posted by CharliePapaDelta on Sunday, July 12, 2009 4:20 PM

I blew the board out on my MTH Premier FEF Northern the other day and am wondering what your thoughts were in just replacing PS2 with TMCC.  Is it even possible? If it is are there any benefits, or is it just a waste.  A new PS2 board was quoted at $240, is TMCC more cost effective, and where do I buy the best PS2 or TMCC boards at?

Depends on whether you mostly use DCS or TMCC.  The TMCC conversion can be significantly cheaper if you go for minimal sounds, and usually is cheaper overall, depending on whether you do the conversion yourself or pay someone else to do it.  The benefits are really only if you prefer TMCC to DCS or want a less expensive fix.  If not, probably get a PS2 replacement.  There are many MTH dealers nationwide who perform PS2 replacements.  Check the MTH website for referrals.

I've heard many folks recommend the following company (founded by Lionel's current CTO, Jon Z.),  to discuss, sell and perform TMCC upgrades/replacements:

Another possible vendor for do-it-yourself install is:
