3562-50 barrel car
Posted by tfabrizio on Monday, April 27, 2009 9:58 PM
Hey guys, I picked up a 3562-50 barrel car at York last week, and I have a question on activation. The car came with a Lionel OTC lockon and a 96C button activator. Do I need to use these items, or can I activate the car with a 6019 track? Thanks. Tim

Tim, yes the 6019 remote control track section is used to operate the 3562 barrel car if you are using 027 track.

Tim,

In addition to the 6019-O-27 and UCS-O gauges Remote Control tracks, the OTC locon with two brass clips(for O gauge track) and #96C Controller button are used for just plain-regular track of both gauges, if you don't have the Remote Control tracks.

Tim, you can use an operating track instead of the OTC lockon, but only one of the two sliding shoes should contact the operating rail or a short will occur.  The barrel car is longer than most other operating cars, so placing both operating shoes on the 6019 track may not be possible, anyway.  Go to the Lionel website and search for operating instructions using the term "barrel".

Tim, My Apology,

Chris,

Thank you for posting of a potential hazard with the two sliding contact pick-up shoes touching the powerized control rails of the 6019-O-27 and UCS O gauges of the Remote Sections of track, I forgot about this important safety precaution.
