3472 Milk Car Spring
Posted by wyomingscout on Tuesday, February 3, 2009 10:29 AM

HI, all.  Just received this and need some fine tuning.  The milk cans don't quit line up in front of the little dairyman.  The diaryman lacks just a fraction of an inch returning completely after ejecting milk can.  Greenburg says remove the return spring (3472-21) and stretch it.

How do I remove the spring?  Any idea about how much to stretch it?  Is there a better way?

Greenburg also suggests trimming the left side of the diaryman with a razor blade, as has sometimes been done in production.

The spring seems to be the cause of the problem, though.

Thanks,

Charlie

If you remove the screws on top of the can chute, you can lift up this plate, with the solenoid attached to it. Once it's up and clear, you can then pull out the solenoid plunger, and the spring along with it.

Thanks, Ben.  Sorry it took so long to get back to you; I've been busy with my horse the last couple of days.  Being retired is so much work!

Anyway followed your directions and looks like the car is going to work fine now.

I'm going to post a couple of pictures - a before and after cleaning shot.

Thanks again, Charlie

For anyone with "milk can" problems, check out the recent posts by Kooljock1. Here's a link to one of them:
