American Flyer Engines Won't Move
Posted by Dusting Off The Tracks on Saturday, December 13, 2008 9:50 PM
I dusted off some old American Flyer trains today (New York Railroad 293 and Reading Lines 307). The last time they were used was 1982 and the engines themselves are probably made in the 50s or 60s. When I put them on the tracks they won't even budge. I know there is power to the tracks as the lights on the engines go on and other accessories work. Is there anything that I can do to try to get either of these engines running again? Thanks, Dusting off the tracks.

Are the reversing units switched on?  The lever that does that is on the bottom of the tender.

I changed the switch and it now works! Thanks! As you can tell, I am a big time novice. Much appreciated.
