I just received this newstand in the mail from an online auction and it did not come with the originally supplied 00-5901-001 controller. While the instructions state I can use a 153C, I would prefer it to work all of the time or by push button. What controller is out there that will suit this need? Regards,
Doc Wyatt
Doc,
Any simple on/off switch will work fine. You could use a postwar Lionel 364C switch, or you buy a light switch at a hardware store and use it to turn the newsstand on and off.
The 153C contactor is a single pole double throw (SPDT) type switch, used for the 153 Block Signal to light either the red or the green light on the signal.
The 128 Newsstand seems to be an on off operation, that can be controlled by a Lionel No. 90 controller, or the 145C pressure contactor, or other single pole single throw switch (SPST).

I definitely want to be able to turn it on/off by a switch. Kurt, you reffered to a 128 newsstand. Is that the same as the one I have that's numbered 2308?
The 128 is the origional post war Newsstand produced from 1957-1960. Your 6-2308 is the 1982 re-issue. Yes it seems to be similar. The wiring diagram on your instructions shows a SPST switch, and the 153c controller can be used, but you only need to connect one pole.
