Screen material for windows/doors. Then, you can use small wooden dowels painted silver for the posts.

Tried the Walthers kit. It was a pain so I tossed it out and am still looking for a good way to model chain link fence.
I prefer the fiberglass screen not the wire metal.

Thank all of you for your ideas. It looks like we will try the wire mesh/ wood post first.
I have used a type of lace / vellum I found at a fabric store. It was already a grey-ish color, and it had more of a closer weave. Instead of wooden dowels, I used industrial sewing needles which were pretty long, a nice dull finish and easily punched into the old layout foam.

I've used the fiber mesh from Scenic Express. A light shot of flat gray paint gets things going. Then play with some rust....

If you're looking to make a "scale" chain link fence then wooden dowels with wire mesh won't do it.
