Command/Control reference book?
Posted by mdainsd on Monday, October 27, 2008 3:18 PM

Anyone know of such a thing covering the Lionel circuit boards used in various locomotives?

My current question is whether or not the CC circuit boards used in the steamers have a provision to operate a front electro coupler like the diesels do?

I just picked up a C/C 763 Hudson and would like to add an operating front coupler to it (using the Atlantic electro-coupler kit 6-22959). I guess if one had to, they could run the front coupler in parallel with the rear, but I wouldnt want to overload the electronics.

The Hudson, being the smallest steamer on the pike would be relegated to yard switching duties, and I'd love the couple function.

The boards come in a few "basic" flavors.   Major distinction is AC motor vers DC motor.  After that it's an issue of modular vrs all in one, speed control/no speed control.   Kalmbach has published a book by DIck Teal on the repair/servicing of modern electronic toy trains.  It's a great book, highly recommended.
