Two Standard Gauge Questions
Posted by cheapclassics on Friday, March 21, 2008 12:32 PM

To all,

I have been looking for answers to some questions I have been dealing with, and I realized I have a set of knowledge that I have not tapped into (this forum).  I have a restored 10E that I would like to add a horn.  It does not have to be elaborate or any fancy sounds, but one of the repair people I talked to locally did not think any were suitable.  Would a postwar horn off an E-5 work?  Also, I have a 318E that hesitates when changing direction, but only in one way.  If I have going forward and try to reverse it, it will attempt to do so, but if I cycle thru the process a second time, it is fine.  It is a Lionel Classic model so it is fairly new.  Thank you all for whatever information you can render on this topic.

Keep on training,

Mike C. from Indiana

Mike,

I don't see where there's room in a #10E for a PW horn.  You'd probably be better off trying (gulp) a modern electronic horn.
