pre-war paint for light restoration
Posted by kcoyle on Wednesday, March 19, 2008 4:20 PM

Hi,

I am new tothe pre-war lionel "O" guage collecting and have a question about restoration of accessories.  Where do you find the paint to match the original pre-war colors of accessiories such as the lmap posts and such?  I was just thinking that if I ever came across a great deal on original items that just need to be restored, it might be an interesting task.

  Thanks,

Hello Kevin,

If you want close to original paints you can go to http://www.trainenamel.com

If you do not mind about the precise colour and type of paint you could even use paint from your own DIY shop.

 Good luck,

There are some on-line articles on CTT's web site that discuss pre-war train repair and restoration. I think one even mentions using readily available spray paints that match well with pre-war paint colors.
