Two engines from Lionel
Posted by Train Memories on Sunday, December 16, 2007 1:53 AM
Two engines from Lionel - A long time ago in September the FEF-3 and the Daylight were coming out. So I said great. I'll get them for Christmas right? Wrong! Now Christmas date is out the window. They haven't even updated thier shipping schedule since the 7th! I wonder what's wrong with Lionel?

Just got to be patient. I've been waiting for an F3 B unit since April.

I believe Lionel is trying to ship as much holiday-related merchandise as they can right now.

Just be patient.  You will get them.  I had to wait over 2 years for an MTH engine. We waited a long time for the Big Boy and Legacy.  It will be worth the wait.  Chin up. Smile [:)]

Train Memories,

There's bad news all right, but nevertheless some hope. The bad news is that shipping schedules are notoriously optimistic, and have been for a long time.

The hope is you may have been reading the shipping schedule incorrectly. You said (and I looked it up) They haven't even updated their shipping schedule since the 7th!

I presume that you were reading the schedule, which reads "December 07" as "December 7" -- Pearl Harbor day. I have been given to understand that it actually means "December, 2007." If so, they are technically still on the published schedule, even as of today.

Hope it works out for you. It still might.

Sincerely,

Lucy-and-the-football

The Sears Christmas Catalog was once called "The Wish Book".

That term can now be used when looking at a Lionel or MTH Catalog.  --- I wish they might build it --- I wish they might ship it in a reasonable time.

Back in 2006 I ordered from MTH a locomotive and 4 matching cars, MTH shipping showed it due in November 2006.    The locomotive was shipped in January 2007, no cars as of October.   At the York Meet, I asked if the Warranty on the locomotive would be out before I got the cars, they laughed.  The new delivery date for the cars is January 2008 !   I am still waiting for a Lionel/K-Line due last May?   MTH "Canceled" much of a "Gauge One" catalog for lack of "Advanced orders".  No P&W Dash-8s, no N.Y.S.& W. "Yellow Jackets".

Because it is in a Catalog, Because you order it DOES NOT mean you will ever get it.

Thanks fellows.   This is what this forum is all about, picking each other up. This is a big family. I was discourage, but I feel better now. All I know is that I really like those engines. I'll just wait just like everybody else. Again, thanks.

It is like DMUinCT wrote "just because they put it in a catalog don't mean that you may ever see it produced!"  Lionel is excellant at that practice!!!!

My local hobby shop owner said that if enuff orders are taken Lionel may produce the item and ship it within two or three years. He said that there is stuff from two years ago that Lionel is just now producing for the 2005 first edition catalog.

Remember when K-Line came out with Super Streets? I was one of the first one hundred to order  it and then K-Line went out of business, so I had to wait almost two years to get all the track pieces that I wanted for Super Streets.

In closing that is why I like to buy stuff that is already at my local hobby shop or at a train meet, I know that is has been made!

Another factor that can cause delays is customs. A shipment can sit on the west coast for weeks and all the importer can do is wait. That does not account for two year delays, but both big train companys have them.

Yes, Yes, I believe and I'm convince That the only way to get these two engines from Lionel is to "Wish upon a star" very hard and have faith that those oriental people from the other side of the World will flag down the very next ship they see and put those Lionel items on!

Ah, to only have to wait two years....as opposed to waiting almost 6 for the PSC Lincoln Funeral Train.....still, once it arrived, all was forgiven.
