Here is an old map showing the trolley line, but no gravel pits.

Here is a newer 1959 map, after the trolley line was abandoned, but it shows gravel pits.

Waukesha and Speedrail
Posted by Speedrail Fan on Sunday, September 17, 2023 1:13 PM

Hello everybody. I am very interested in the Milwaukee area rapid transit, in the late 40s, and very early 50s. Today I got a book by Larry A. Sakar titled, Speedrail- Milwaukee's Last Rapid Transit. Many times in the book, the Waukesha Gravel Pit is mentioned, and I would like to know where it was. I know it is somewhere east of Waukesha, and I know that is where most of the Speedrail equipment was scrapped, but I would like to know where it actually was (in relation to present locations). I would appreciate any help, thanks!
