Unable tro access Trains forum

Since Friday every time I try to access trains forum get a message 504 Gateway time out.  Can get News wire with no problem.  Customer service did not believe me.

Pretty much the same experience for me. Got time-outs on every attempt to read threads on the Trains Magazine forums.

I have the same problem on both Trains and Classic Trains Forums,  but it seems correlated with number of postings von a specific thread, and  thus may be a combination of both reduced babdwidth on the server and added complications, like sandbagging adds, at this website.  Example, I can pull up thiws thread but cannot access the two Question threads.

I wanted to ask rc if the six-day-a-week train was one of a similarly-named  fleet, the Chiefs, Rockets, 400s, Zephyrs  for example, or had a name all-to-itself?  Was it the specific  Railroad's or route's premier train?

This is obviously diue to a programming error.  The referred page index is improperly added at the end.  The "fix", which works at least some of the time, is to go to the address bar and strip the "#" sign and seven digit number after the "aspx".

Since I'm not sure I can get to the post I made last week, I'll say that I didn't check for daily operation in the streamline era.  When the train's second set of lightweight equipment was delivered after the war, it went to "*", or seven days a week.  So the question applies only to the train's first 45 years or so of operation.

504 is exclusively a server-side code, and it indicates that even a fundamental request to connect to a server is timing out or otherwise being rejected.

Information in other threads indicates to me that much if not all actual 'connectivity' is via servers operated as part of the Telligent platform -- the thing, remember, that Kalmbach IT says it no longer has the code to support, and is planning to supplant with some other package.  Any attempt to maintain or correct the codebase on those servers might easily result in days and days of... very slow or absent ability to connect without errors; that might also explain why there seemed to be more of an issue with a server for the Southeast US than with other instantiations.

In my experience, the various Kalmbach websites are unreliable and frequently unavailable.  I don't care "why" this happens.  But, when it happens, it means that their subscribers aren't getting the services they have paid for.  I don't know why Kalmbach tolerates this - probably they just don't care.

What makes it stranger is that e-zines are the future of publishing. If you drive people away now, they may not come back. Especially if the anticipated increased usage causes an even bigger load on the services, with more outages.

I have been having somewhat similar problems for the past two years. I have been unable to access either the Classic Toy Trains forum or the Trains Magazine forum. Customer service was unable to help me either. Here is a link to a thread that I recently started on the Model Railroader forum:

It looks like some of the site configuration reverted to the old setup, now corrected.
