The locomotive still runs great however lately it has be stalling or not stopping and not reversing each time the Reverse button is pressed. In looking at the electric break down of the engine, I noted the E Unit Plunger is not always turning the rachet wheel. This inturn causes the E Unit Drum to fail. Ok I got this far but now I am at a stand still. Not sure where to go from here. Any suggestions?

Try giving the E-unit a shot of electrical contact cleaner, it may just be gunked up from age. Most hardware stores will have it in the electrical section in aerosol cans. Make sure it's evaporated before you shoot the power to it.
