To the statement by Lithonia Operator on this thread about the OBL Joke..." OK, I get that, BUT ....You are standing over a 'VOID"...
The ramaifcations about the ADA Act of 1990, and its second iteration The[reboot?] ADA of 2020 [passed Jan.16th, 2020].
Many people take this Act very seriously! There are 'heated' feelings on both side of it, and the fact that it is Federal Law, and what it means in all locations of its enforced rules and regulations.
As noted the Airline industry takes its implementations VERY Seriously.
I am sure that so does AMTRAK at whatever level of management it gets ' engaged with'.
Engagement with this particular Act effects virtrually every American citizen at some level of their lives; the non-handicapped(?), as well as the 'handicapped'(?). In our homes, cars, jobs, and of course our public transportation!
If you are not familiar with it, a little reading/information on it ( the ADA) can be an eye-opener!
See Linked [ an approx. 90 min lecture on the ADA ] @ https://www.courseministry.com/product/2020-update-on-reasonable-accommodations-under-americans-with-disabilities-act-ada/
And here is a specific section on "Access' that may be of interest for those pressed for time. [A PDF] @

It is currently Law, and its' implementation is happening every day...Where it is slow, there are activists and their counselors who work to get the implementation of it done; at what ever the cost$$$$$ are.
Someone commenting in this thread made the comment a couple of days ago that some folks take these forums way too seriously.

Today, for the first time, I saw that article in online Trains.
I had not seen any thread on the forum. (I don't go to Passenger all that often.) So I made that post. Period.
My main "reason" for posting it was to make the OBL PR joke.
But ya know, I don't ask others why they post something. People get to post whatever they want, as long as it doesn't violate the rules. People get to participate or not. I choose not to read more threads than I do choose to read.
I find it interesting that some folks think it's a waste of their time to have a redundant thread here. But they have plenty of time to open it, read it, then jump on me about starting a thread they could have easily simply ignored.
Am I surprised? No.
I for one don't think Lithonia needs protection (he's quite capable himself) nor did OM's comment seem so offensive as to require your rebuke.
charlie hebdoBut it's where he posted this duplication, maybe because of a catchy title?
That may be. I don't know why he posted.
Maybe he thought it was funny. Maybe he didn't see the earlier thread. Maybe he saw the title, but for some reason didn't connect the two.
I believe that by stating, "Why are you starting a thread on this when we already have one ..." is abrupt and the tone is unnecessary. Of course, you could take my wife's position that I'm wrong on just about everything.
If I feel compelled to point out the same thing, maybe I could just say something like, "Here is a thread that talks about that."

Some of us don't get to the passenger threads using the Passenger Forum.
I use the Recent Activity page, which reflects all of the Kalmbach railroad forums. The passenger threads are a minor part of the page, and often are buried under dozens of other threads.
OvermodWhy are you starting a thread on this when we already have one that has discussed the details extensively?
It's possible he just missed the topic. It's possible he read an article elsewhere and wanted to share it. It's possible he used the forum's search engine and didn't find anything on the topic.
I think there's an old phrase about "cutting some slack".
