AMTRK CEO Richard Anderson vs. CP Huntington RR Historical Society ?

TRAINS NEWSwire of this date 02/01/2019; carries an article re: AMTRAK'S recent changes to its regulations, regarding movement of  Private Cars on AMTRAK.

"Sen. Manchin urges Amtrak to reconsider private car policies"

Apparently, the new regs, aimed at the Private Car Owner',and their 'Industry'(?); have not only gored the owners collective oxen.  Also, they seem to put an end to the CP Huntington Chapter's [RHS], highly successful "New River Train".

Its annual production has brought not only many tourists, but millions of dollars the the State of West Virginia, and its businesses for 52 years.

Former Gov. now Senator Joe Manchin, has weighed in with comment and a letter to CEO Anderson's recent regulation. regarding the issue of AMTRK and its movements of Private Railcars.

FTA:"...urges Amtrak to re-examine its policies that are negatively affecting the historical railroad..."

Further  FTA:"...For more than 50 years as the focal point of the Railroad Days Festival, the New River Train has been at the heart of West Virginia’s proud railroading history. From providing jobs to bringing people from across the country to visit our beautiful state, railroads are still vital to the Mountain State today,” Sen. Manchin says, in part. “That’s why I find it so disheartening to see the impacts of these decisions. I am committed to doing whatever I can, legislatively or otherwise, to save the traditions and communities threatened by these policies. I stand ready to work with you to keep West Virginian’s proud railroad history alive..."

Those in this railfan community will have to wait, and see, if  Senator Manchin. will be able to sway CEO Anderson; or is it just more feel-good, political bloviating?
