If the 1915 idea of jitneys could be made new in this grave new 21st Century world, why not a reboot of the Pickwick Nite Coach? Of course it should have been done with modernized Pickwick - style amenities and not a Skil-sawed imitation of a Japanese capsule hotel ... but if they appeal to millennials (and no matter how crude, it HAS to be superior to sitting up in Megabus all night!) who am I to point out all the ways to do it better?
Those bus bunks make Slumbercoach accomodations look spacious.
NKP guy Ever see photos of the inside of a sleeper car on a WW2 troop train? I'm pretty sure that's what the future holds for Amtrak passengers who boldly persist in wanting something other than a coach seat on whatever LD train or two is left. On the YouTube video of the bus trip that I saw, the very young and limber passengers enjoy the novelty of the experience, but they don't seem eager or excited to repeat their journey.

A Sleeper Bus? Between LA and San Francisco? Apparently, from videos and what I read it is doing OK with bookings. Though these compartments are too much like a coffin to me and I would not ride this way.

Now I wonder how many of these compartments would fit on a retrofitted Amtrak Superliner Sleeping Car? Perhaps, 2nd class accomodations?
