Posted by Anonymous on Friday, October 12, 2018 8:19 AM

An ICE-3 train with more than 500 people on board caught fire on the high-speed route Cologne to Frankfurt/Main near Montabaur.

The train was evacuated with only about 5 people lightly injured.

The cause is still unknown. ICE-3 trains are 8-car EMUs with all electrical equipments mounted beneath the floor an electrical fire seems possible.
All together there are 16 traction motors. The first and third car on each side have 4 traction motors each, the second car carries pantograph and transformer.
