American Railway Explorer/ Sandy Creek
Posted by magritte55 on Saturday, May 14, 2011 4:06 PM

Xanterra's American Railway Explorer, which acquired almost all the Grand Luxe equipment,   never got off the ground.  An entity planning a Washington DC -Greenbrier service acquired most of the  American Railway Explorer eqiupment and  a few other cars apparently went to the Grand Canyon Railroad.  Would any one have specifics on the acquisitions and the cars that have stayed with Xanterra?  In particular, I am curious about the 20th Century Limited's Sandy Creek, most recently the New York on Grans Luxe and its predecessors.  I think Xanterra still owns it.

Thank you.

I recently heard, from someone in the private car community, that Norfolk

Southern has shown some interest in obtaining the car for its business car

fleet.
