GN_Fan I'm planning a westbound trip on the Cardinal from Washington to Chicago. I notice that the dining equipment is lised as a diner-lounge with menus for both a full dining menu and a cafe. Do they offer both menus or just one? I'm confused on this issue. I've eaten of the Coast Starlight and was well pleased and was wondering if the Cardinal will be the same. Anyone have any experience on this train?

The dining car menu for the Cardinal can be found on Amtrak's webpage:

If this link does not work, go to www.Amtrak.com and click on meals and dining. Then click on Meal Choices and Menus at a Glance.
Its like Tray meal service with a Menu you have about 2 to 4 choices to pick from, its good food but not the greatest food like the other trains have Full Dining Cars, least its food to eat.
I have not ridden the Cardinal, but two of the Amtrak trains that I do ride have two separate cars. A Café car, that has an attendant at a counter with prepackaged food, a microwave oven, and some tables where you can sit to eat if you like, and a full dining car with the usual full service meals.
