Hi folks! I've been advised that planning to arrive at 2-3pm in Penn Station (from Atlanta) in order to catch a 9:45pm international flight at JFK might mess up my vacation if the train runs late.
As far as I can tell from the last few days, it's generally arrived early -- but I wonder whether anyone here has been resourceful enough to compile data on on-time performance and can tell me how often (or in what season) the Crescent ATL-NYC run is more than an hour late. After all, this past week is probably a bit less busy than Memorial Day weekend, which is when (Friday night to Saturday afternoon) I'm trying to plan this for.
Thanks!
Given that you are connecting to an overseas flight, I would think flying to NYC on Delta to JFK, makes a lot more sense ($193.70 one way, 2 hr. 19 min.) vs the train ($161.00 coach + $210.00 for a sleeper, 18 hr. 10 min.).

Watch the weather very closely and take an airplane if it looks bad. Going thru the WASH area on Saturday usually means time made up because of no VRE or MARC. SEPTA and NJ transit have a very reduced schedule allowing time to be made up.
Last Fri left ATL :35 late Arrived NYP 1:05 early
