The OP said the locomotive overshot the platform by 40 yards (120'). The NTSB report of the IGC accident states that the last car overshot the platform by 600 ft and a signal by 400 ft. The train was already completely in the next block.</div> <div style="clear:both;"> </div> <div style="clear:both;">Don't get me wrong, I don't doubt the problems associated with backing a train.
