A question about using my pass priviledge card from MSP on AMTRAK to Fort Wayne.

I was worked in the BN as of AMTRAK day in 1971. The connections from MSP to CHI would be very tight due to the EB's delays. Any suggestions about a connection from CHI to a point on the Lake Shore Limited to get off at and rent a car to Fort Waynd. Any talk of a direct train from CHI to Ft Wayne on the former PRR? And which railroad services from Chicago to Fort Wayne? My home road is BN.

Amtrak and the LSL don't service Ft. Wayne - closest station is Waterloo, IN.

Approximately 62 passengers daily or 22,849 per year. The station is 25 miles north of Fort Wayne, Indiana.

The Town of Waterloo recently moved the historic New York Central depot to a position closer to the existing platform and installed additional lighting, walkways, and a free parking lot. The station is now open daily 5:30 a.m.-7:30 a.m. (or until the two morning trains depart) and re-opens from 9:00 p.m.-1:30 a.m. (or until the two night trains depart).

The Town does not own the area by the boarding area and could not make improvements there.  However, passengers will enjoy the renovated facilities, refreshments, restrooms and historic memorabilia as they wait comfortably in Waterloo going forward. Waterloo Depot station attendants are on duty and can assist you with information.

Never too old to have a happy childhood!

I doubt you'd find a rental car in Waterloo. Elkhart or Toledo would be more likely choices.

rixflix aka Captain Video. Blessed be Jean Shepherd and all His works!!! Hooray for 1939, the all time movie year!!! I took that ride on the Reading but my Baby caught the Katy and left me a mule to ride.
