Amtrak refurbishing sleeper cars ?

Anyone know what this is about?. If so how did it get by all railfans?   Does this also include rebuilding wrecked cars?

The article makes it clear that this is cosmetic refurbishing, including improved dining service. It's apparently not a rebuilding job.

From the article:

New seat cushions and upholstery will be installed in rail cars, along with new carpeting, curtains, LED lighting and tables. Additionally, each private bedroom and roomette will feature new bedding, linens, pillows and towels, plus large updated toiletry dispensers full of body wash, conditioner, shampoo and soap. The latter is designed to help passengers freshen up throughout their overnight journeys in a more eco-friendly way.
Apparently the dining 'experience' involves similar sprucing up, but apparently there will be more three-course meal choices for "overnignt passengers" (I don't know if that's code for sleeper passengers)

The pop-up videos on that page are more interesting than the story.  First we learn how people are loving the Middlebury train stop, then we learn Amtrak is hiring for "4000 jobs".  Both of which were discussed in threads here...

They have been planning this for two years running now.    They stated earlier one more refurbishment for the Superliners then it will be an RFP for replacement of Superliner equipment in 2024 or 2025.    I think they stated 2024 though.   Plan is to have new LD fleet for West before 2030.    They have not specified single level or bi-level for replacements yet notwithstanding earlier design or plans.   So we shall see what is in the RFP.
