GrampThe NKP passsenger station still exists in pretty good shape I believe.
The platforms are still there, I believe most of what was once the street level depot are gone, but what is left would be a good start. My bet is that making what's left ADA compliant would require some work.
But where would there be incentive for NS to cooperate? Much of the main line west of town is still single. Adding passenger service would be nothing but a burden on their existing operations, and what do they get in return?
I don't disagree. Most routes are really not suitable for passenger trains today, and it's understandable why. As much as I love trains, a big part of me thinks passenger is a very poor use of the resource. I just wonder if there are additional ways to economically move more of the nation's freight by rail.
CSSHEGEWISCH By the time that the Broadway/Three Rivers moved off of the former PRR main, the line was little more than a high-speed branch line with long sidings so the few freight trains on the line would be out of the way when the Broadway came through.

Interestingly, I just finished watching old F40 cab ride video from that line. And it mentions at that time (1984) the second being taking up.
