Amtrak expansion to New River Valley (Roanoke to Christianburg, VA)

FYI-,

So it is my understanding that the state of Virginia is buying 28.5 miles of track between Roanoke and Christianburg, VA from Norfolk Southern for this rail passenger service extension.     Is that correct?    Will it be maintained by the state or Amtrak and are they going to improve the track for higher speeds?    Anyone know?     Plans to extend further down the line beyond Christianburg......anyone know?
